JOIN US IN WELCOMING LOCAL YOUNG ADULT FANTASY WRITER LAURA SEPESI
At just 21-years-of age, Bridgewater resident, Laura Sepesi has published her first novel. The Guardian of Kelmar, a young adult fantasy novel. Laura will be signing her novel this Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Clinton Book Shop. Fans of fantasy, both young and old, will want to meet this young writer as it may be an "I knew her when" meeting. Sepesi, a 2006 graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School, dreamt up the idea for the novel more than five years before she set out to write the story. When she was just 13-years-old Sepesi actually had a dream that was so vivid that she made it the foundation for her story.“It all started with a dream that I had,” said Sepesi, 21. “I didn’t write it down at the time, but it was just so vivid that I couldn’t forget it.” The novel tells the story of shy and confused Carmen Fox who learns that it is her destiny to protect the mystical and beautiful world of Kelmar. Carmen discovers she has magical powers, such as the ability to fly, create lightning and cast spells, and works to master her skills with the help of the many mythical creatures she meets in Kelmar. The Guardian of Kelmar is the first in a planned trilogy about Carmen and her adventures. Sepesi, who recently earned her associate’s degree from Raritan Valley Community College, is already well on her way to finishing the second installment. Throughout the series, one of the major themes is how fate plays a strong role in the young Carmen’s life. Sepesi herself is a big believer in destiny and thinks fate is what helped her get her book published.
